Glen Cove's Ashanti To Sing At Big 12 Championship Football Game Sat.

GLEN COVE, NY — Glen Cove native, singer Ashanti, will sing the national anthem at Saturday's Big 12 college football championship game.

The 42-year-old Grammy winner was announced as the singer at the Dr. Pepper conference championship game earlier this week. The game is also adding more entertainment elements, organizers said, like an apparel collaboration with streetwear fashion label A Bathing Ape.

Texas Christian University and Kansas State will face off at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Tex. at noon. ABC will broadcast the game.

Ashanti visited her alma mater, Glen Cove High School, this year, where she reminisced about singing in the school's chorus, running track, and participating in school plays.
