Homeless Man Accused Of Attempted Murder In Glen Cove

The charges are connected to the man who was found with severe burns on his body last month, police say.

A homeless man was arrested Wednesday on attempted murder charges in connection to a September incident where a man was found with severe burns on his body in a wooded area in Glen Cove, police say.

German Umanzor, 38, of Glen Cove, was arrested at 9:29 a.m. in Glen Cove and charged with second-degree attempted murder and first-degree assault.

On Tuesday, Sept. 12, officers responded to the wooded area at the west side of the Glen Street Railroad Station, near the parking lot, to find a man who sustained serious burns to his lower legs. The man was airlifted to Nassau Medical Center to be treated for his injuries.

Umanzor will be arraigned on Thursday at First District Court in Hempstead.
