Honoring Victims Of Avianca Crash On LI 35 Years Later
A Mass will be held on Jan. 25 at a church in Oyster Bay.

OYSTER BAY, NY — It's been 35 years since an Avianca airliner crashed in Cove Neck, killing 65 passengers and eight crew members.
The flight was low on fuel and was unable to land at Kennedy Airport.
A Mass will be held on Jan. 25 at St. Dominic's Roman Catholic Church in Oyster Bay.

The Mass will honor the victims, their families and survivors of the crash.
On January 25, 1990, the flight was bound for JFK from Medellin, Columbia. The National Traffic Safety Board determined that the crash happened because the flight crew failed to properly declare a fuel emergency.
