LIRR Adds More Trains Wednesday, Thursday For Thanksgiving Travel

There will be 12 extra trains on Wednesday afternoon, and 17 added before and after the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade on Thursday.

LONG ISLAND, NY — The Long Island Rail Road will run extra trains Wednesday and Thursday to accommodate Thanksgiving holiday travelers.

On Wednesday, there will be 12 extra trains leaving Penn Station between 12:45 p.m. and 4:15 p.m. There will be four extra Babylon line trains, three extra on the Huntington and Port Jefferson line, two extra on the Ronkonkoma line and one more on the Far Rockaway, Montauk and Port Washington lines.

On Thanksgiving Day, the LIRR will be on a weekend schedule, with extra trains before and after the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. There will be six extra westbound trains between 6 a.m. and 7:45 a.m.: Two each on the Babylon Branch and Ronkonkoma lines, and one each on the Montauk Branch and Port Jefferson lines. There will be 11 extra eastbound trains leaving from Penn Station between 11 a.m. and 1:35 p.m. Four extra each on the Babylon Branch and Ronkonkoma branches, two on the Port Jefferson and Huntington Branch and one on the Montauk Branch.

Friday, Nov. 25: LIRR will be a regular weekday schedule, and Saturday, Nov. 26, and Sunday, Nov. 27, will be a normal weekend schedule.
