Glen Cove, NY — This past July, Loggia Glen Cove #1016, Order Sons and Daughters of Italy in America, proudly recognized a group of exceptional students at its monthly membership meeting. The annual scholarship presentation celebrated academic excellence, dedication to community service, and commitment to Italian American heritage.

Through the generosity of the Lodge—and in memory and honor of several beloved members—scholarships and awards were presented in the categories of academic achievement, Italian language excellence, and community service.

Among those in attendance, Carina Gallo received the Loggia Glen Cove Scholarship in memory of Lisa Carrera, while Alexandra Basile was honored with a scholarship in memory of Therese Della Vecchia as well as a general scholarship from the Lodge. Dominic Mattio received a scholarship in memory of Lorenzo Martone, and Calogero Guastella was presented with the Dante Award for Excellence in Italian, given in honor of Vincent F. Gallo. Abigail Maselli also received the Dante Award for Excellence in Italian. Julianna DiLorenzo and Julia Petrizzo were recognized for their outstanding volunteerism with the Community Service Award, and Natalya Golia received the same award in honor of Dante DiBlasio. In addition, Julia Petrizzo was named as a recipient of a scholarship from the New York State Grand Lodge Foundation, Inc.

Three additional students—Olivia Cagno, Peter Grande, and Sofia Della Ratta—were unable to attend the ceremony but will receive their scholarships at a later date. Olivia Cagno was named as a recipient of the Dante Award for Excellence in Italian; Peter Grande was named as a recipient of the Loggia Glen Cove Scholarship; and Sofia Della Ratta was named as a recipient of a scholarship from the New York State Grand Lodge Foundation, Inc.
