Man Claims To Be Electrician, Enters Glen Cove Home Uninvited: PD

Police say they are searching for a man who claimed to be an electrician and entered a Glen Cove home uninvited.

GLEN COVE, NY — Authorities say they are looking for a man who claimed to be an electrician and entered a Glen Cove home uninvited this week.

Around 9:20 p.m. on Tuesday, Glen Cove police received a report for a suspicious man on Valentine Street. Upon arrival, a resident told police that an unknown man knocked on her door, entered the house, and began walking up the stairs. When confronted, the man told the resident that he was an electrician and was called to the house.

According to police, the resident told the man to leave, which he promptly did. The man then entered a white van, which had no side windows or roof racks, and drove away.

He is described as being about 6 feet tall and having a medium complexion, dark combed-back hair, and dark eyes. He also reportedly has an accent.

Following the incident, police issued a statement reminding residents to remain vigilant and to call authorities if someone suspicious comes to their door.

"Residents are encouraged to keep their doors locked and to never let anyone enter their home unless they know who the individual is," the department said in a statement. "Never let anyone into your home that is trying to sell you a service or claims to be from a repair service unless you called them."
