Man Dies After Car Crashes Into Concrete Wall In Old Brookville

The car, after crashing into the wall, was then struck by another vehicle on Thursday afternoon, police say.

UPDATE Friday at 10:17 a.m.: Police identified the man killed in the Thursday afternoon crash in Old Brookville as 58-year-old Jericho resident Michael Lotito.

A back seat passenger died after a vehicle crashed into a concrete retaining wall and was then struck by another vehicle in Old Brookville on Thursday afternoon, police say.

According to authorities, a 56-year-old man was driving a 2015 Toyota southbound on Cedar Swamp Road near Country Lane when he lost control of the vehicle and struck a concrete retaining wall at 3 p.m.

The vehicle was left stalled in the roadway and was then struck by a 2005 Hyundai, driven by a 52-year-old man, traveling in the same direction, police say.

A passenger in the Toyota, a 58-year-old man, was taken to Syosset Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 3:31 p.m. His identity is being withheld pending family notification.

The driver of the Toyota was taken to an area hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the Hyundai was not injured.

The investigation is ongoing.
