Man Indicted For Killing Mother-In-Law At Birthday Dinner On LI: DA
If convicted, Erick Efren Corado Gonzalez could get up to 50 years in prison, prosecutors said.
MINEOLA, NY — A Glen Cove man was arraigned on Tuesday for the murder of his estranged mother-in-law as she left a birthday celebration last month, prosecutors said.
Erick Efren Corado Gonzalez, 27, was indicted on charges that include second-degree murder, second-degree attempted murder and first-degree attempted assault after the September 29 incident, Nassau County District Attorney Anne Donnelly said.
"Ana Ruth Espinoza was out with family celebrating her daughter’s birthday at a West Hempstead restaurant and saying her goodbyes when she was allegedly ambushed by Erick Gonzalez, her daughter’s estranged husband, and ruthlessly stabbed seven times," Donnelly said. "Ana’s husband tried to stop the defendant’s alleged rampage but was slashed in the hand when he intervened. Tragically, Ana’s injuries were too severe, and she died later that morning at the hospital."
