Man Sends Glen Cove Mansion Employee Threatening Note: Police

In the note, the man threatened to harm the employee and her family members if she did not pay him a monthly stipend, police say.

A man threatened harm against an employee at the Glen Cove Mansion and her family members if she did not pay him a monthly stipend, police say.

On June 24, Glen Cove Police say the woman discovered a note at her place of employment, located at 200 Dosoris Lane, that stated if she did not pay $200 per month, her family— some of whom reside out of the country— could possibly be killed. The note also made a reference to a notorious street gang, police say.

Publio Segura, 62, of Levittown, was arrested on Wednesday following an investigation into the note. Police say he was a former acquaintance of the employee and does not have any gang affiliations. Segura was charged with second-degree aggravated harassment and second-degree attempted coercion.

"Thankfully the victim contacted her employer and the Glen Cove Police instead of acquiescing to the money demands of the defendant," Det. Lt. John Nagle, of the Glen Cove Police Department, said. "We believe this arrest will bring comfort and relief to the victim and her family knowing that gang members were not behind the threats."

The staff at the Glen Cove Mansion, along with detectives from the Glen Cove Police Department and the Nassau County Gang Unit collaborated on the investigation.
