Man Found Unresponsive On NICE Bus Dies Of Apparent Overdose: Police

Authorities say the man found unresponsive on Nassau's NICE Bus Monday morning likely died of a heroin overdose.

GLEN COVE, NY — A man found unresponsive on Nassau's NICE Bus Monday morning likely died of a heroin overdose, authorities said.

Around 11:44 a.m., Glen Cove police and EMS were called to a bus stop on Bridge Street for the report of an unconscious man at the back of the N27 NICE Bus.

Police say the man, who was discovered by the bus operator, was rushed to Northwell Hospital in Glen Cove, where he was pronounced dead.

"Unfortunately, the lifesaving efforts of all involved were not enough to revive the victim," said Glen Cove Police Det. Lt. John Nagle.

At the time, the victim was in possession of what appeared to be heroin, Nagle said.

The victim's name has not yet been released, pending family notification.
