Marguerite Suozzi, Of Glen Cove, Dies At 93

Her son Rep. Tom Suozzi and late husband Joseph Suozzi both served as Glen Cove Mayor. Services will be held this week.

Marguerite H. Suozzi, of Glen Cove, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 2 at age 93.

Marguerite "Marge" Suozzi was born on Feb. 19, 1924. Beloved Beloved wife of the late Joseph. The loving mother of five children, 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. "The end of an era," wrote her son, Rep. Tom Suozzi, in a Facebook post.

“We’re really more sad for us than for her," Tom Suozzi told Newsday. "We’re not going to have her. She was perfectly at peace."

Marguerite Suozzi's husband Joseph Suozzi passed away in October 2016 at age 95. Like his son, he was a former Glen Cove Mayor. He also was a two-term state Supreme Court justice.

Marguerite Suozzi was a nurse and a champion golfer, according to Newsday. She also founded the Morgan Park Summer Music Festival, a nonprofit organization that has been providing free concerts in the park for 58 years.

"Marge Suozzi, the founder of MPSMF, passed on this weekend," Morgan Park Summer Music Festival wrote in a Facebook post. "We send condolences to her family with great appreciation for her inspiration, work and dedication."

Visitation will be held at McLaughlin Kramer Megiel Funeral Home, located at 220 Glen St. in Glen Cove, on Monday 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

The funeral mass will be held on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Church of St. Patrick, located at 235 Glen St. in Glen Cove. Burial will be at Locust Valley Cemetery.

The family requests no flowers. Donations can be made to All Saints Regional Catholic School, located at 12 Pearsall Ave. in Glen Cove.
