Nassau Homeowners Overcharged On School Tax Bill: Reports
A Nassau legislator found that 800 homeowners across the county may have errors on their current tax bills, some overcharged by $1K or more.
NASSAU COUNTY, NY—Nassau County homeowners should double check their tax bills, several news outlets reported this week. On Wednesday, Nassau County Legislature Minority Leader Kevan Abrahams announced that his office discovered that at least 800 homeowners have errors on their bill, and in some cases are being overcharged by $1,000 or more.
The error was a human-made error, a Nassau County spokesperson told News 12.
The mistake was first spotted by a Levittown man, 71-year-old Scott Diamond. He noticed a 62 percent increase from last year on this year's first bill. He told ABC 7 News that he frequently reviews his tax bills.
