Long Island Woman Ticketed After Trying To Own Pet Canada Goose: Officials
A Long Island woman was ticketed after trying to own a Canada Goose as a pet.

NASSAU COUNTY, NY — New York's environmental conservation police have fined a woman they say tried to keep a Canada Goose as a pet in Nassau County.
Authorities first discovered the caged goose on July 30, after receiving a call from a resident who expressed concerns that the animal did not have enough space and ample food and water.
Upon arrival, an officer found the goose in a dog wire crate. Authorities say they interviewed the homeowner who claimed a friend dropped it off after rehabilitating it for a prior injury and that she intended to keep it as a pet.

It is against New York's regulations to keep wildlife as pets. Therefore, the goose was removed, examined, and then released into the wild. The woman was ticketed for unlawfully possessing protected wildlife, authorities said.
