North Shore High School Beats Malverne, Heads To Nassau Football Final
"An exhilarating moment": A field goal with seconds left in the game helped the Varsity Vikings head to a second county final in two years.

GLEN HEAD, NY — The North Shore Varsity Vikings are heading to the Nassau County football championships.
On Thursday, they clinched a last-minute win against Malverne to qualify for the Nassau County Championship this Friday at Hofstra University.
North Shore was tied 14-14 with Malverne, when Michael Fleming got a field goal with only seconds to go in the fourth quarter, North Shore Central School District shared.

"Viking family members and friends in the stands were on their feet cheering as the Varsity Football Team ran onto the field in triumph. It was an exhilarating moment as the Vikings clinched their position to play once again in the Nassau County Championship game," a post from the district read.
"Our boys demonstrated great resolve and poise under pressure. The entire North Shore community celebrates their historic back-to-back trips to the Nassau County Championship. With seconds left, we watched the field goal sail through the goalposts to a joyous Viking jubilation,” North Shore High School Principal Eric Contreras said.
