Glen Cove City Schools District Board of Education trustee Barrie Dratch and Vice President Maureen Pappachristou were celebrated at the BOE meeting on June 19.
Dratch was a member for six years, while Pappachristou served for three years and nine months. Superintendent of Schools Dr. Maria Rianna thanked the pair for their support and service to the district’s students.
“From their years of experience on the PTA, plus Barrie’s as an educator in another district, they bring a lot to the table and I think they have added a lot to the work we have done over the last four years,” Dr. Rianna said.

Dratch thanked members of the district’s administration. She also shared some parting thoughts to new BOE members Robert Field and Monica Alexandris-Miller, who will be sworn in on July 13.
“Your role is to represent the children of the city. I ask that you trust the knowledge of all administrators and have faith that they know what they’re doing,” Dratch said. “And if you aren’t sure of something, your role is to ask questions.”
