Missing Deacon Has Returned To Glen Cove

He was unable to recall where he had been for the last two days and was taken to a hospital for evaluation.

A priest who serves as a deacon at a Glen Cove church has returned home on Friday, police say.

Leonardo Barros, 73, traveled into New York City to see a church somewhere near the World Trade Center on Wednesday morning and was not seen or heard from until he returned to the Russian Orthodox Church, located at 14 Alvin St., around 6:50 a.m. on Friday.

Barros also lives at the church.

Barros was in good physical condition but he was unable to recall where he had been for the last two days, police say.

He was transported to a hospital for evaluation.

A priest who serves as a deacon at a Glen Cove church has been reported missing by the church administration, Glen Cove Police says.

Leonardo Barros, 73, said he wanted to travel into New York City to see a church somewhere near the World Trade Center on Wednesday, police say. He was dropped off at the Glen Cove bus stop by a member of the church at 10 a.m. He has not been seen or heard from since, police say.

Barros is a deacon at the Russian Orthodox Church, located at 14 Alvin St.

Police believe he may be in a confused mental state.

Barros is originally from Chile. Police described him as 5 feet 3 inches tall, with grey hair, a grey mustache and a grey half beard. He is fluent in Spanish, English and Russian.
