1st GLOSSLAB, A New Model of Nail Salon, To Open Dec. 9 In Nassau County
The NYC entrepreneur who founded the hygiene-focused chain says Roslyn, and more Long Island locations to come, made sense for the brand.

ROSLYN, NY — A New York City-based entrepreneur is bringing a new type of nail salon to Long Island, and a Roslyn location will be the first. GLOSSLAB is a membership-based nail salon, opening Dec. 9 at 1045 Northern Blvd.
Rachel Apfel Glass worked in finance before deciding that the nail salon experience could be made more efficient and more hygienic, and created GLOSSLAB to "modernize the nail studio experience with [a] hygiene-first, membership based concept after she was frustrated with the lack of cleanliness and efficiency of most salons," a publicist for the company said.
GLOSSLAB is a cashless business with online booking, contactless check-in and out and hospital grade sterilization, the company says.

Roslyn will be the 18th location, with salons in NY, CT, NJ, MD, TX, FL and Washington, D.C.
Glass told Patch that Roslyn made sense as the next place to expand the brand.

"Roslyn, and the Long Island area, just seemed to be the organic next 'home' when we were looking at expanding outside of the city. We have other locations to follow but we are very excited about joining the Roslyn community," she said.
The membership model is meant to make the process of getting manicures and pedicures more efficient. A la carte services are also available, Glass explained.
Hygiene is also a focus at GLOSSLAB, Glass said, and the salons are all waterless and the tools are hospital grade sterilized.
