Sid Jacobsen JCC 'Shines A Light On Hunger;' Recognizes Young Helpers
The East Hills center will honor young people helping to establish food security in Nassau County at a Thursday evening event.

EAST HILLS, NY — The Sid Jacobson Jewish Community Center (SJJCC) is honoring individuals who are helping to combat hunger in Nassau County. On Thursday night the East Hills center will "Shine A Light On Hunger" by presenting awards to adults and young people "at the forefront of ensuring food security for all individuals and families in Nassau County."
SJCC runs a Community Needs Bank, which partners with Long Island Harvest Food Bank, and is a vocational training site for young adults with special needs. The bank collects non-perishable and perishable foods, personal care items, and household items for individuals and small local food pantries in Nassau.
The Ray of Light Youth Awards are given to "young game changers actively doing good in their communities through their entrepreneurial and philanthropic endeavors."

The youth award winners are: Dani Adler, Evelyn Altman, Logan Grotas, Reese Grotas, Emma Jacobs, Sammy Lichtenstein, Ori Mann, Lemuel Mashkevich, Natasha Rabman, Sophie Rosenma, Tali Sanders, Prue Stephens, Skylar Weitz and Jenna Zucker.
Kenneth Migden of Sterling Sanitary Supply Corp. will receive the event's Champion of Light Award.
