Stewie the Duck Promotes Water Safety with YMCA-LI Campers

As part of the YMCA of Long Island and Stew Leonard III Water Safety Foundation

As part of the YMCA of Long Island and Stew Leonard III Water Safety Foundation’s shared ongoing commitment to keeping children safe around water, the YMCA at Glen Cove recently welcomed Stew Leonard III Water Safety Foundation’s mascot, Stewie the Duck, to promote water safety to its campers. During Stewie’s special guest appearance, he handed out the children’s book “Stewie the Duck Learns to Swim,” in an effort to further spread awareness about water safety skills and create an important dialogue around safety tips.

In 1989, Kim and Stew Leonard, Jr. tragically lost their 21-month-old son to a drowning accident. The following year, Kim and Stew founded the Stew Leonard III Water Safety Foundation and have since advocated for water safety education for children and parents.
