'This Violence Cannot Be Ignored' the HMTC Reacts To Boulder Attack

The FBI is investigating Sunday's attack as an act of terror in Colorado, where eight people were injured.

NASSAU COUNTY, NY — As the FBI is investigating Sunday's attack in Boulder, Colorado as an act of terror, Long Island officials are reacting.

The suspect, Mohamed Sabry Soliman, 45, was arrested and is expected to face charges, the Associated Press reported.

With a makeshift flamethrower, Soliman threw an incendiary device and yelled "Free Palestine" into the crowd who were calling for the return of Israeli hostages in Gaza," the AP said.

"The rise in open attacks against Jews in America has moved beyond propaganda, intimidation, and vandalism. This violence cannot be ignored," the Holocaust Memorial and Tolerance Center (HMTC) said in a statement.

This violence in Colorado come after two members were gunned down recently after attending an event at the Capital Jewish Museum in Washington.

"We demand that there be legislation proposed in Congress to prioritize protecting Jews and put into law before the casualties continue to grow exponentially," the HMTC said.

Congresswoman Laura Gillen took to X with this post:

"I am praying for all those injured in the horrific, antisemitic attack against peaceful marchers in Boulder. This vile act of hate must be condemned in the strongest possible terms. We must continue to stand together against antisemitism and bigotry in all its forms.

Sunday's victims range in age from 52 to 88, the AP said on Monday.

The attack took place just hours before the Jewish holiday of Shavuot.
