WATCH: Glen Cove Teachers Perform 'Lean On Me' Via Teleconference
Music teachers in Glen Cove came together — virtually, of course — to show how they're staying connected through music.
GLEN COVE, NY — Glen Cove music teachers aren't letting a little social distancing get in the way of performing. Ten teachers performed "Lean on Me" by Bill Withers over teleconference to show how they're staying connected during the era of the new coronavirus, which forced schools to close their doors in mid-March. The video was published Tuesday on YouTube.
"We all miss teaching, performing and learning with our students; even though we're apart, we can all stay connected through music," the Glen Cove Music Department wrote in a description for the video. "Hopefully we can spread some positivity through this performance, and don't forget - you can always 'lean on me!'"
Virtual Ensemble performers include Laurel Albinder, JoAnn Criblez, James Guarini, Thomas LaRocca, Chris Lippe, Brittney Rifkind, Keith Schmidt, Joy Sullivan, Sandra Vigliotti and Edward Norris.

The video also included words of encouragement for students. Many said they miss making music with their students and seeing their faces.
"I just want to say, 'hello' and that I hope your families are doing well," one teacher said in the video.
