World Cup 2022 On Long Island: Where To Watch In Nassau And Suffolk

Whether you cheer on Team USA or another favorite team, these are some of the top gathering spots for Long Island soccer fans.

LONG ISLAND, NY — Soccer fans on Long Island are getting excited for World Cup 2022, and if you are looking for a gathering spot to enjoy the matches with other fans, Long Island has options in Nassau and Suffolk. The World Cup, held in Qatar, runs Nov. 20 until Dec. 18.

The top spots for the matches will depend on whose playing, so whether you're saying "prost,"chanting "USA," or yelling a long "gol!" these are some popular options.

Nassau

If you are a Brazil fan, head to Madeira's Cafe in Mineola. The Portuguese restaurant should be full of yellow and green-clad fans enjoying Portuguese food in a sports bar setting.

Plattduetsche in Franklin Square has a biergarten and main bar and traditional German food. The restaurant is hosting a World Cup watch party for the duration of the Cup and will be open for even some Germany 8 a.m. games. "Pick up and bring your World Cup Celebration Passport with you every time you come to the Plattduetsche to watch a World Cup game and we’ll give you a stamp for each country that is playing. After the final game has been played, bring your passport full of stamps back to us by January 31, 2023 and we’ll give you a gift card to the Plattduetsche. Each stamp is worth $5 in gift cards."

Prost in Garden City calls itself "your World Cup home" and is taking reservations now for the matches. The German beer hall says the England USA matchup on Nov. 25 is almost full.

If bars and pubs aren't your thing, Nassau County is hosting a watch party for the Nov. 25 USA England game at 2 p.m. at Mitchel Athletic Complex in Uniondale. The match will be played on a jumbo screen and it's free to attend.

Suffolk

The Bench in Stony Brook is throwing a ticketed watch party for the Nov. 25 Friday afternoon USA versus England match. Tickets are $40 per adult and include sodas, beer and bar snacks.

Secatogue Brewing Company in West Islip will have viewing parties for Team USA games. Nov. 21 the US plays Wales, Nov. 25 they face England, and on Nov. 29 is a match against Iran, all at 2 p.m. The brewery will have special opening hours for the matchs and food trucks. The Long Island chapter of the American Outlaws supporter group will be there, cheering on Joe Scally of Lake Grove and the rest of the American players.

Tap Room in Bay Shore and Patchogue will be showing the U.S.A matches on Nov. 21, 25 and 29, opening early for the game. There will be beer specials and likely a lot of USA chanting.

Rooting for Croatia in 2022? Head to Vinoteka in Huntington. The USA—Croatia match on Nov. 27 should draw a crowd at this wine bar and restaurant.
