Don't Forget: You Can Help Plan Gowanus' Future on Dec. 8
The next public meeting of the Gowanus Neighborhood Planning Study is on Dec. 8.

GOWANUS, BROOKLYN — Don't forget, Gowanus (and friends of the neighborhood): your next chance to share your vision for the future of Gowanus with city planners is Thursday, Dec. 8.
The Department of City Planning will host the next public meeting of the Gowanus Neighborhood Planning Study at 6:30 p.m. at the Wyckoff Community Center, located at 208 Wyckoff St.
The evening's conversation will focus on "how resiliency and sustainability efforts and interventions are central to the Gowanus Neighborhood Planning Study," according to the city.

Additionally, "Attendees will learn about existing and future anticipated risks, what agencies are working on locally and citywide to address these risks, and how the community can help shape sustainability and resiliency in Gowanus."
This public engagement process is building on what was done from 2013 through 2015 as part of the Bridging Gowanus program, which established a series of development priorities for the area. Among them:

- The city should support resiliency and sustainable development in Gowanus
- It should increase available neighborhood amenities
- It should make improvements to streetscaping and pedestrian safety
- It should promote job creation in the arts and cultural sectors
- It should develop affordable housing and protect existing tenants against displacement
- And it should improve the area's infrastructure and environmental quality
