Electric Car Racing Tournament Returns To Brooklyn Next Weekend
The NYC E-Prix event will bring Formula E single-seater cars to the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal for the third year in a row.

RED HOOK, BROOKLYN — Brooklyn's own electric car racing tournament is back for its third year, bringing a fleet of the single-seater powerhouse cars to the Red Hook waterfront next weekend.
The NYC E-Prix will kick off a weekend of races on July 13 and 14 at the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal. The Formula E tournament, which has also been held in far-off spots like Monaco or Paris, has been holding its final round of races in the borough since 2017.
Formula E is the first racing series to use single-seat electric cars that produce zero emissions. The cars can reach 140 miles per hour in under three seconds, according to the New York City Economic Development Corporation.

This year, the company announced that it will also be giving out the first NYC E-Prix Scholarship. The scholarship, brought together by Formula E and Modis, will give $1,000 to two high school seniors participating in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) disciplines, the company said.
Winners of the scholarship, who applied back in June, will get to go to the NYC E-Prix Shakedown event held on Friday before the tournament. Here, they will meet with Formula E and Modis executives and look behind-the-scenes of the race course.
