Man's Body Found In Gowanus Canal, Police Say

The body of the man was found in the waters of the canal near Nevins Street on Tuesday morning, police said.

GOWANUS, NY — The body of a man was found inside the Gowanus Canal on Tuesday morning, police said.

Police responded to calls of a man in the water near Nevins Street at about 7 a.m. and found him unconscious in the canal, the NYPD said.

NYPD Harbor Units took the man to Pier 5 and removed him from the water, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The man's name and age have not been released yet. The medical examiner will determine the cause of the death and police said an investigation is ongoing.
