Prospect Park's Yellow Pinwheels Coming To Red Hook

Did you miss the thousands of yellow pinwheels in the park's Rose Garden? Here's how you can still see some of them.

RED HOOK, BROOKLYN — Did you miss the thousands of yellow pinwheels that lined Prospect Park's Rose Garden for a few days last month? If you're in the Red Hook-area, you have another chance to take a look and make some of your own.

"The Connective Project" is setting up shop at Pioneer Works from August 12 through 25. People can join the Prospect Park Alliance and AREA4 "for another chance to experience this immersive community art project," the alliance says.

You can "make a pinwheel of your own and have the chance to take home a limited-edition pinwheel by an emerging artist," the alliance adds.

The Connective Project set up 7,000 bright yellow pinwheels in the oft-neglected Rose Garden from July 7 through July 17.

Other pinwheels featured works from local artists. And people in the community were asked to submit pinwheels of their own, with prose, pictures and drawings about what the park means to them.

The park says that "a selection of pinwheels" will be available at Pioneer Works. We aren't sure what happened to the rest of the pinwheels, though we saw a couple of them in a Park Slope planter walking through the neighborhood this weekend:
