Terrarium Shop Closing Because Of 3rd Avenue Construction: Report

Twig Terrariums will shutter their Gowanus spot next month and move neighborhoods because of constant construction on Third Avenue.

GOWANUS, NY — A store that sells and teaches people how to make terrariums plans to close their Gowanus spot because of constant construction on Third Avenue, Bklyner reported.

Twig Terrariums will shutter their 287 Third Ave. spot to move next month to move to a new location in Ditmas Park or Kensington after years of dealing with flooded basements, last minute power outages and torn-up sidewalks made it difficult to get inside because of the construction, the website reported.

"I can’t recall a time when this block wasn’t undergoing major construction of some kind," co-owner Michelle Inciarrano told Bklyner.

The space first opened in 2011 and runs public and private workshops on how to make terrariums and other planters. They also sell readymade ones including greenery added to dinosaur models.

However, construction on the block started soon after, first to move power and gas lines then to install new storm sewers. The latest work is expected to finish in 2020, according to the city.
