Bicyclist Killed by Hit-and-Run Driver on LIE Service Road
Police are asking for the public's help to find the driver who fled the scene of the fatal crash Sunday.

LAKE SUCCESS, NY – A 66-year-old bicyclist was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver on a Long Island Expressway service road Sunday, police said.
According to Nassau Police, David Schlichting was riding a bike on South Service Road between exits 33 and 34 when he was struck by an older model minivan near Great Neck South High School.
Schlichting, who was wearing a helmet, was thrown off the bicycle and struck his head, causing severe head trauma, police said. Schlichting, of Great Neck, was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

The driver of the minivan fled the scene of the crash. Police are asking anyone with information to contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
