Great Neck High Schools Make List of Top 100 in State

Niche.com ranked the best public high schools in New York.

In a recently released report, Niche.com named Great Neck high schools as the top public high schools in New York.

Great Neck South came in seventh, and Great Neck North came in at 23.

Great Neck South received an A+ in academics, administration and policies, educational outcomes, extracurriculars and teachers. It received an A in food, health and safety and resources and facilities, and A- in sports and facilities and student culture and diversity.

“Even though I am ready to move onto college, I am still going to miss high school,” one student wrote. “I took some great classes and I met a lot of new people.”

Great Neck North received an A+ in academics, administration and policies, educational outcomes, extracurriculars and teachers. It received an A in health and safety and resources and facilities.

The school’s lowest grade, a C+, was in student culture and diversity.

“The students are very committed to their work and constantly seek out help from teachers,” one student wrote.

According to Niche.com, a high overall ranking includes the following criteria:

  • Students are very happy with their experience in all aspects including academics, teachers, health, safety, resources, facilities, extracurriculars, sports, and fitness;
  • District schools are exceptional academic institutions in terms of teachers, students, resources for learning, and student outcomes;
  • District schools are made up of a diverse population and fosters an accepting, positive school culture;
  • Students are actively involved in a variety of extracurriculars and sports the district offers.
