Great Neck Library Vote Finally Called, After Lawsuit, Counting Battle
On Tuesday, Great Neck Library posted the final results of the Oct. 31 board election, with the three seats won by 7, 57, 21 votes each.

GREAT NECK, NY — A long and contentious Great Neck election is finally over.
On Tuesday, the Great Neck library released final results for the Oct. 31 library board election on their website. After battles over the legality of proxy votes, a lawsuit and weeks of social media statements from two opposing coalitions, the vote came down to, in one case, seven votes.
For Liman Mimi Hu's seat, Hu won reelection by seven votes. Jessica Hughes received 1,753 to Hu's 1,760.

For a vacant seat, Rory Lancman got 1,683 votes, defeating Christina Rusu who got 1,626 votes and Karen Hirsch Romero who got 154 votes.
The nominating committee vacant seat will be filled by Kim Schader, who received 1,688 votes, beating out Sara Rivka Khodadadian who received 1,667 votes.

A Nov. 7 state lawsuit from Hughes and Rusu attempting to block the counting of several proxy votes was withdrawn on Nov. 21, "based on an agreement," according to a joint statement from Hu, Lancman and Schader, and the count was finalized on Nov. 28.
