Baker fifth graders with Parkville pre-kindergarten students for shared learning and mentorship. At a Dec. 10 Board of Education meeting, district leaders celebrated the program’s success, highlighting how it builds empathy, confidence, and community connections across Great Neck’s elementary schools.
   

• Lead found in school drinking water on Long Island (newsnationnow.com) — Great Neck schools are among more than 20 Nassau County districts where state testing recently found elevated lead levels in drinking water fountains, triggering mandatory shutdowns of affected fixtures. Schools must provide alternative water sources, notify families and staff, and carry out remediation and retesting, making this a significant health and safety issue for local students.
