WATCH: State Senator Notches Overwhelming Primary Win
State Senator Anna Kaplan is 'confident' that her campaign will 'everything in our power' to win a third term.

GREAT NECK, NY — While most of the eyes on Tuesday's primaries were focused on congressional races, state Senator Anna Kaplan (D-Great Neck) scored a resounding win in her race.
Kaplan, a guest on Wednesday's "Patch AM," got 85% of the vote against her challenger Jeremy Joseph.
"Given the fact that I have 40% new district and new lines, it was really important for me to go out and introduce myself," Kaplan said.

She said one of the main issues for her constituents is wanting sensible gun laws.
"The second thing I really hear a lot is woman's choice," she said. "An area I've been a leader and worked very hard. It was through my efforts that we flipped New York's State Senate Democratic in 2018. We were able to codify Roe."

But, Kaplan admits there is plenty of work to do before the general election as she seeks a third term.
"I'm confident that we will do everything in our power and we will not leave any stone unturned," she said.
