2 Hurt In Multi-Vehicle LIE Crash Involving Tractor-Trailer
Multiple cars were wrecked in the crash.
Two drivers were hospitalized following a multi-vehicle crash involving a tractor-trailer Thursday morning on the Long Island Expressway, fire officials say.
The crash occurred in the westbound lanes, near Exit 50, at about 11:35 a.m. One of the drivers trapped in the wreckage was rescued by Dix Hills firefighters using heavy rescue extrication tools.

Two drivers were taken to Good Samaritan Hospital by the Dix Hills Rescue Squad to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The accident closed three lanes of the westbound LIE, between Exits 50 and 51, for about two hours, causing delays for drivers.

Three ambulances, a heavy rescue truck, engine and paramedic unit responded to the scene. Units were under the direction of Captain Scott DiPino, according to PIO Steve Silverman.
