Car Fire Damages Melville Apartment Building
BREAKING: The blaze melted off part of the building's exterior, officials say.
Firefighters extinguished a car fire that caused damage to a Melville apartment building on Wednesday night.
According to fire officials, Melville firefighters responded to Avalon Court Apartments, located on Court North Drive, to find the burning car parked up against the garage of an apartment building at 7:40 p.m.
A Suffolk Police Emergency Service assisted by hooking up a chain to pull the car away from the building. Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the blaze, which melted part of the siding and soffit on the building, officials say. The fire caused superficial damage to the outside. There was no damage to the inside of the building.
