Suffolk Man In Possession Of Multiple Guns Is Arrested: Police

Police seized three assault rifles, two rifles, and one level three body armor, as well as other firearm components, police say.

MELVILLE, NY — A man was arrested in connection with the criminal possession of multiple weapons in Melville on Friday evening, Suffolk police said.

Probation officers were responding to a Chateau Drive home when they found illegal weapons at the house and then requested assistance from the Suffolk County Police Department around 6:30 p.m., police said.

During an investigation, police seized three assault rifles, two rifles, and one level three body armor, as well as other firearm components: a large amount of ammunition, including three large capacity magazines; and plastic molds for ghost guns, police said.

Robert Ehlich, 41, was arrested at his home at 8:19 p.m., police said.

Ehlich was charged with seven counts of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon; two counts of fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon; and one count of unlawful purchase of body armor, police said.

Ehlich was held overnight at the Third Precinct and was scheduled to be arraigned at First District
Court in Central Islip on Saturday.
