Memorial Fund Set Up To Honor Scott J. Beigel

A fundraiser will take place in June. Beigel was among 17 people killed in the Marjory Stoneman Douglas shooting earlier this year.

The Scott J. Beigel Memorial Fund will be holding a fundraiser in June to honor the former Dix Hills native who was one of 17 people killed in the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting earlier this year.

Beigel was a geography teacher and the school's cross country coach. He was struck by a bullet as he shut a classroom door behind him. He had unlocked his classroom briefly to let more students take shelter.

This fund was set up by Beigel's family in his honor. The funds will send underprivileged children to summer camp.
