A softball field at Mill Dam Park has been dedicated in the name of John M. "Muggs" Gerardi.
Gerardi, who died in January, was involved in Huntington softball for more than three decades as a player, manager, organizer and president of the Huntington Men’s Softball League.
In July, the Town Board voted to dedicate Field No. 4 in his memory.
Huntington Supervisor Frank P. Petrone joined Council Members Mark Cuthbertson and Mark Mayoka, other public officials, family and friends at Sunday's dedication.
Gerardi was a Vietnam War veteran who was active at the Northport Veterans Administration Hospital and in veterans’ concerns. He worked in the construction trades, in real estate and as a restaurant owner; most of his working life was spent as a member of the Cement Masons.
