The body of a woman was found in the woods at the Froehlich Nature Preserve Thursday morning, Suffolk County police said.
Det. Lt. Jack Fitzpatrick said a passerby in the preserve found the body of the white woman about 8:50 a.m. about 300 feet into the woods. He deemed her death suspicious and said the department was trying to identify her. She was found near one of the trails that winds through the preserve.
He declined to give further details until the county medical examiner's office had examined the body.
