HARLEM, NY — One person died and 11 others suffered injuries after a fire broke out inside a Harlem NYCHA apartment building Thursday evening, officials said.

First responders declared the person dead at the scene, an FDNY spokesperson said.

The first-floor fire in the 14-story building, part of NYCHA's Lincoln Houses, also sent 11 other residents to the hospital for minor injuries.

After roughly 45 minutes, the fire was brought under control.

The building was also used to store heating equipment, according to NYCHA's website.

The fire's cause remains under investigation.

Harlem has seen a spate of fires during this winter season.

This tragic fire was the second one on Thursday alone, with another blaze occurring earlier that morning, luckily with no injuries.

But other fires have been deadly.

In January, three people were injured in a fire on East 122nd St., with one of the victims — a sleeping, 23-year-old man — dying soon after from his injuries.

Back in November, two people were killed in a tragic brownstone fire on Malcolm X Boulevard.
