3 People Injured, 1 Critically In Early AM Harlem Fire: FDNY

HARLEM, NY — An early morning fire inside a Harlem apartment building sent three people to the hospital, with one person in critical condition, officials said.

Flames first broke out at around 8:50 a.m. on Friday on the fifth floor of a 16-story apartment building on Second Avenue and East 122nd Street, according to the FDNY.

Nearly 80 firefighters and first responders rushed to the scene, officials said.

As the crew fought the flames, three people were rescued with injures, fire officials said.

All three were sent to nearby hospitals, with one in critical condition, according to an FDNY spokesperson.

By 9:40 a.m., firefighters got the fire under control, officials said.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation by fire marshals, according to the FDNY.
