Columbia Student Jumps To Her Death From Off-Campus Dorm: NYPD

Breaking: The woman was a foreign exchange student from Japan.

MORNINGSIDE HEIGHTS, NY — A 23-year-old Columbia University student jumped to her death early Thursday morning from the seventh floor of an off-campus dormitory, the NYPD told Patch.

The woman jumped around 1:23 a.m. Thursday and was taken to St. Luke's medical center where she was pronounced dead, police said.

The 23-year-old is an exchange student from Japan, police said.

She jumped from room 736 of the dormitory at 2900 Broadway, between 113th and 114th Sts., which has a library on the first floor.
