HARLEM, NY — The NYPD is trying to identify a bike-riding gunman who fired several shots into a group of people in broad daylight on a Central Harlem street, police said.
The cyclist rode onto the corner of Lenox Ave and West 139th Street near the Fred Samuel Playground, grabbed a gun from his jacket pocket and took aim at a group standing on the other end of the block before opening fire, police said. Nobody was hurt during the shooting and the gunman fled the scene on his bicycle.
Police released video from the scene that shows bystanders on the block run in fear as the gunman begins to shoot. After firing off several rounds without ever dismounting his bike, the gunman stuffs a pistol back into his jacket and rides off, according to the video.
