UPDATE: Dead Woman Found In Garbage Bag In Manhattan ID'ed, Police Say

EMS pronounced her dead at the scene, authorities said.

EAST HARLEM, NY — A woman was found dead in a trash bag on a sidewalk in East Harlem on Monday evening, according to the New York City Police Department. On Thursday, she was identified by police as 35-year-old Bonnie Schulman-Rice.

According to the NYPD, officers responded around 6:30 p.m. to a call from MTA Police about an unconscious woman near East 124th Street and Park Avenue, under the Metro-North train tracks.

When officers arrived, they found an unidentified woman lying on the sidewalk, unconscious and unresponsive in a black trash bag, police said. EMS pronounced her dead at the scene, authorities said.

The cause of death will be determined by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, and the investigation is underway, according to police.

The woman was homeless, police said.
