East Harlem Fire In Public Housing Complex Leaves 2 Injured: FDNY

One person injured was taken to the hospital in serious condition, an FDNY spokesman said.

EAST HARLEM, NY — Two people were injured Thursday afternoon when a fire broke out in an East Harlem public housing building, an FDNY spokesman said.

The fire broke out on the sixth-floor of a 10-story apartment building in the East River Houses development on East 105th Street between First Avenue and the FDR Drive, an FDNY spokesman said. Firefighters responded to the building shortly after 1 p.m. and had the fire under control by 1:38 p.m., the spokesman said.

Two people were injured during the fire, an FDNY spokesman said. One person suffered serious injuries and was taken to New York Presbyterian Hospital in stable condition and the other suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene, the spokesman said.

Twenty fire units containing about 70 emergency personnel operated at the scene of the fire, an FDNY spokesman said.
