Pregnant Woman Shot, Killed By Ex At Baby Shower In Harlem

Police said Shanice Young was shot and killed while trying to break up a fight between her ex and current boyfriend early Sunday morning.

NEW YORK, NY — A Harlem woman was shot and killed early Sunday morning while attempting to break up a fight between her ex-boyfriend and current boyfriend, AM New York reported early on Sunday. The New York City Police Department confirmed the death of 31-year-old Shanice Young.

Young was pregnant, and shot at her baby shower, ABC New York reported.

The ex-boyfriend was still being sought by police in the city's 32nd precinct later on Sunday morning, according to the news report. He's believed to have pulled the trigger around 1:16 a.m. near the corner of West 128th Street and Frederick Douglass Boulevard in Harlem.

Young was found "unconscious and unresponsive" when police arrived, officers said. She was taken to a hospital in Harlem and pronounced dead there.

The ex was not invited to the party, according to ABC.

The suspect had not been identified as of 7 p.m. Sunday.
