6 Hurt In Hospital Fire At East Harlem's Mount Sinai, Officials Say
Mount Sinai Hospital patients were evacuated and elective procedures will be rescheduled, according to Mark Levine.

EAST HARLEM, NY — Flames spread in an East Harlem hospital Friday morning, forcing patient evacuations and ramifications for the medical center going forward, according to the FDNY and Manhattan Borough President Mark Levine.
An electrical fire erupted in the basement of Mount Sinai Hospital on Madison Avenue and East 100th Street about 12:40 a.m., FDNY said.
Six people were injured in the blaze, three of whom were sent to nearby hospitals, the FDNY said.

More than 100 firefighters battled the blaze and were able to get it under control by 3:50 a.m., FDNY said.
Several patient floors were evacuated during the fire, and all elective procedures at the hospital are being rescheduled due to infrastructure damage, Manhattan Borough President Mark Levine tweeted Friday morning.

Ambulances are being sent to other hospitals and New Yorkers with appointments at Mount Sinai Friday morning should confirm before arrival, the borough president said.
"Mount Sinai Health System would like to express our sincerest gratitude to front line staff and FDNY first responders," Mount Sinai said in a statement Friday, reported ABC7.
