Fire Breaks Out In East Harlem Residential Building: FDNY

Flames ignited shortly after 8 a.m. on Wednesday near East 98th Street and Lexington Avenue, FDNY told Patch.

EAST HARLEM, NY — A fire broke out Wednesday morning in an East Harlem residential building, an FDNY spokesperson told Patch.

The flames ignited shortly after 8 a.m. on the fourth floor of a 14-story building at 1536 Lexington Ave., near the corner of East 98th Street, FDNY said.

A total of 78 firefighters responded to the blaze, and were able to get it under control by 8:30 a.m., FDNY said.

There were no injuries.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
