EAST HARLEM, NY — The Harlem Night Market is back this December, bringing holiday shopping, food, music and family-friendly fun to all corners of the historic La Marqueta.

Now in its seventh year, the market will run the first three Saturdays of December from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., stretching across La Marqueta’s indoor market at 115th Street and outdoor spaces on 112th and 111th streets under the Park Avenue Viaduct.

Organizers say about 50 uptown-based vendors will fill the stalls with food, gifts, art and handmade goods representing Harlem, El Barrio and the Bronx.

Shoppers can explore Lot 2’s colorful stalls, dance to DJs like Ted Smooth and Uptown Vinyl Supreme, browse local makers at Urban Garden Center, and check out live graffiti at 111th Street.

Inside La Marqueta’s year-round market, vendors including Cocotazo, Yesi’s Bookstore and the La Marqueta Artisans will be open for holiday browsing.

A free party bus loop will shuttle visitors between 111th and 115th streets, and shoppers who visit every part of the market can earn $5 in "La Marqueta Bucks," organizers said.

Each weekend features free workshops — from wreath-making to Charlie Brown Christmas trees — plus jugglers, stilt walkers and live music including jazz, salsa and a traditional parranda. On Dec. 13, the market will host a Giving Tree in partnership with the East Side SOUL Family Enrichment Center.

“Since its start as one of New York City’s public markets in the 1930s, La Marqueta has
achieved a storied status as the heart of entrepreneurship for East Harlem and all of
Uptown,” said Carey King of Uptown Grand Central, one of the organizers of the event.

The event was also organized by TBo Harlem and NYC Public Retail Markets.

"For nearly a century now, these blocks under the rumbling Park Avenue train tracks have launched thousands of entrepreneurs with great products and great ideas. It’s our honor to be a part of showcasing that vibrancy for the holidays," King said.

The market will be open on Dec. 6, 13 and 20.
