Whether the shelter is used to house asylum seekers is unclear from the records.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the fire marshal.

Friday's fire comes just a week after a four-alarm blaze in Harlem sent two people to the hospital.

Two weeks ago, another Harlem fire left one resident deada 27-year-old journalist. Officials now said that fire was caused by an e-bike battery.

Earlier in February, another person was killed and 11 were injured in a fire at a Harlem NYCHA apartment. On the same day, another fire broke out with no injuries.

In January, three people were injured in a fire on East 122nd St., with one of the victims — a sleeping, 23-year-old man — dying soon after from his injuries.

Back in November, two people were killed in a tragic brownstone fire on Malcolm X Boulevard.
