Prank Subway Announcer Says He Has A Gun: Harlem Straphanger
A voice shouting "I have a f------ gun!" came over the PA system of a 1 train in Harlem, causing a scare among riders.
HARLEM, NY — A prankster badly frightened Harlem straphangers last weekend when he used the train's loudspeakers to announce, "I have a f---ing gun," according to witnesses and reports.
Columbia Journalism Review writer Alex Neason documented the wild scene that began with the terrifying message on a Harlem 1 train near the 125th Street station Saturday night, she wrote.
"All I could think about was being trapped in a metal tube with a man and a gun," Neason tweeted. "I've never really felt acute fear for my life like that."

When the train doors opened, the scared straphangers bolted onto the platform and fled the station in a confused panic, according to Neason.
"Chaos ensued" when a man ran down the crowded platform from the back of the train shouting, "He has a gun!" and, "Get downstairs," she wrote.

Police responded to the scene and searched the train but found no evidence of a gun, MTA officials tweeted. No gunshots were ever fired, and transit officials believe the whole thing was likely a prank.
